Jonathan Christy is a high-strung 25-year old who has failed miserably at getting sent to Europe by his employer despite his impassioned pleas for a position abroad. A victim of the infamous “business need” clause in his company’s official overseas travel policy, Jonathan resolved last year to return to Europe by his own means.

Jonathan is a European train fanatic who holds the record (he believes) for the most countries ever visited during a single 24-hour Eurail pass segment. He is also the first non-German ever to have applied for a job with Deutsche Bahn. He has been smitten with Europe since ninth-grade, when he terrorized 10 countries in 30 days on a lightly-chaperoned high school trip. He studied abroad in Italy in the Spring of 1998, and spent the ensuing summer guiding bike trips in Tuscany for an Italian touring company.

Dave is returning to Europe for only the third time in his somewhat eventful 25 year history. Having spent a sad portion of the past 3 years in some form of airport line, Dave is excited to try to at least temporarily recoup the childhood skill of experiencing life with no agenda.

Dave would like to thank his parents for agreeing to store his vacuum cleaner and concert posters. Also, a special thanks to the sluggish US economy for spiraling downward long enough to cause his employer to agree to a 15 month subsidized leave of absence. Cheers!
